Souter Keeps His House

The eviction plan gets shot down. I've thought from the beginning that this whole thing was just a joke. Eminent domain abuse sucks, we know. But this is a childish maneuver. It's especially bad because it's possible that Souter will retire in the near future. He hates living in Washington D.C. (he got mugged recently while jogging), he loves his farmhouse in NH, and there have been rumors from his former clerks that he's growing tired of the whole Supreme Court thing. Don't piss this guy off. Let him have his farmhouse and let him retire in a term or two. "Sticking it to the man" is not nearly as important as getting Souter to retire. Think tactically.
