Beer Review: Hofbrau Original

I finally did it. I made it to the Old German Beer Hall. After dinner at Rock Bottom, my friends and I decided that the OGBH was the place to do some drinking and conversing. I'd like to thank The Warrior for alerting us to the fact that Thursday night is College Night at the OGBH. That means that steins of beer are half off as long as you have a college ID. Be sure to check out the huge ad on the back page of the March 1st issue of The Warrior for further details and coupons.

I don't pussyfoot around, so I ordered a liter of the Hofbrau Original. A liter of German beer? Why the hell not? This is a great beer, and it was only $5 for a liter of it. The Hofbrau Original is a vibrant golden beer. It's got that classic, stereotypical "beer" look to it. You see it and you want to drink it. It has a rich, full-bodied flavor. It's brewed with five hops, but those are balanced with the malts to make it an incredibly refreshing beer. This is exactly the kind of beer that I would love to drink on a warm summer night. It's smooth and refreshing, but it's also got enough flavor to remind you that you're drinking a real beer. My liter was gone before I knew it. This is a great beer for casual beer drinkers, because it's not too heavy and not too hoppy. It's a satisfyingly rich, flavorful beer. I recommend it.
